About Carla

Carla started painting in 2017, joining a painting class. She soon discovered that painting really is a great way to take your mind off anything, in particular difficulties that she was facing at that time.

Carla really loves colors, flowers and butterflies, this is the inspiration for most of her paintings. This makes her happy, and it was nice finding out that her paintings are also received as such by others. Her teacher helped her to create her own style. With acrylic paint she first builds a layer with structure, using a palette knife. Subsequently, she starts painting the background, like the air. She explained that she really likes seeing the perspective being created with the lighter and darker colors painted next to each other in this step. Lastly, she finishes the painting with creating all the little flowers and butterflies, for which she uses a paint brush. When she started painting this topic, these flower fields,she used pictures as an example. However, now she creates her own fields of flowers out of her imagination.She still sometimes uses pictures to create specific flowers or butterflies, the rest is inspired by being in her garden or the nature.
